This is a great find for the bassist who likes the retro look and sound. The volume and tone controls were completely worn out so I had to replace them all including the input jack. The action is low and the bass sounds just amazing. The frets show some is 30+ years old!! The truss rod is working fine and the neck is arrow straight. It's design is a 34" scale neck through construction, the patented Steinberger double ball tuning system, and a passive P-J pickup configuration with v-v-t controls. The only real chipping is at the heal on either side of the tuners. This bass is in amazing condition for a 33 year old instrument. There are two small cracks near the 'headstock' but they dont appear to. However, this is the first one that I have played with a active bass boost switch that operates with a 9v battery.
